About a month after rounding Cape Hope, their daughter Sarah Kelly died of debility, aged 1 and 1/3 years.  The surgeons report stating that "she was delicate all voyage".  This was also just 10 days after her cousin, Sarah Hastings death, the daughter of David and Mary Hastings.

Inflamatory fever broke out on board the ship around two weeks before the arrival of the vessel at Port Jackson, and the ship was immediately placed into Quarantine at Spring Cove when it arrived on the 27th September, 1838 after over 4 months at sea.  The vessel was released in early October, ready for the immigrants to disembark at Darling Harbour.  A fresh case of Typhus fever broke out, forcing the ship to return to Spring Cove and was again put back into Quarantine.  The immigrants were removed from the ship and moved into the huts at the station at North Head and people separated into the sick and healthy.

The fever spread rapidly amongst the immigrants, the first deaths occurring in October.  A total of 41 people would die from the ill fated William Rogers whilst in Quarantine.  The immigrants were finally released from the Quarantine station by early January, 1839.

Upon leaving quarantine, Robert Kelly whose calling was a shepherd was employed by James White of Edenglassie (which is near Musswellbrook the Hunter River) for 30 pounds a year with rations.  There is also an unclaimed letter advertised in the SMH of the 12th June,  1843 for Robert Kelly at Elderslie, another locality on the Hunter River near Singleton.  (nb - there was also an Estate called Elderslie near Camden and so may be incorrect).

Elizabeth had however separated from Robert Kelly early after arrival and had formed a defacto relationship with a Joseph Taylor, a convict.

The children of this union were:

    1. James Taylor 1840-1914 (James had 15 children)
    2. Joseph Taylor 1841
    3. Mary Ann Taylor 1843 - 1929
    4. William Taylor 1845-1907 (William had 6 children)
    5. Phoebe Taylor 1847
    6. Joseph Taylor 1848
    7. Thomas Taylor 1851-1902
    8. Mary Phoebe Taylor 1854

Joseph Taylor & Elizabeth Kelly eventually married in 1853 at Mudgee Wesleyan Methodist church, but the marriage was annulled. In 1855, Joseph marries Edith (Dellar) Wilmot, a widow and starts another family.

Elizabeth died on 10th August 1877 and is buried in the Rylestone Cemetery next to her son William. Her headstone reads: "To the memory of Elizabeth Kelly who departed this life August 10th 1877, aged 67 years; Not dead but Sleepeth".  On Elizabeths death certificate, it states that her husband is Robert Kelly but it is her Taylor children that attend to her burial

On Joseph Taylors death certificate it is the children that he had with Elizabeth that attended to his burial,  but once again there is no mention of Elizabeth or the children they had together.

Robert Kelly, remarries in 1858 to Mary Tinney at Shoalhaven (Nowra) and they had 6 children. Robert Kelly died, aged 77 years, on 10th July 1885 at Callan Park Sydney and was buried at Camberwarra Cemetery (near Nowra).
