Notes for THOMAS SAVELL

Very little is known of Thomas and Sarah Savell, except their children were christened in St Saviours Church in Southwark Surrey, by the southern shore of the Thames near London Bridge and that Thomas Savell's occupation was listed on John Savell's death certificate as a Jeweller.

No real infomation has been found on him, except that his wife was named Sarah and that he resided at Southwark in London.  The family group can be identified through the link between Skipwork Savell, son of Frederick Savell and John Savell.  Skipworth ..<<reference to certificate>>  

Thomas or Sarah Savell cannot be located with certainty in the 1841 census.  Frederick Savell has been placed in the Greenwich Marine Society which is a potential indication that his parents are either dead, not well off or have moved.

There are some theories and avenues to explore. 

• There several Savell related families living in London whose occupations are Watchmaker or associated trades.  This has a close association with the occupation of Jeweller that was listed on John Savells death certificate.  The two families of William Savill/Savell and Thomas Henry Savell census and christenings are listed below in the research notes.  Both William and Henry fathered by Thomas and Sarah Savell.  There is however no proof that this is the same family above.  Possible source is apprenticeship records?
• Frederick Savell married in 1847.  This certificate needs to be viewed.  I am guessing that his father is listed as deceased. 
• Frederick Savell was placed into the Marine Society, which gave support to families or individuals unable to provide support.  Why would this have occurred if he had brothers (i.e. Thomas Henry and William) who were in London.  Does this assist in the implication that they are not related, or perhaps there were divisions in the family. 
• William Savell married in 18XX.  This certificate also needs to be viewed.  The parents listed on the IGI for this christening show a strong potential that he may be the brother of John and Frederick Savell. 
• The original Southwark parish registers need to be viewed.  The occupation of Thomas may be listed?  Also the register for Lambeth London to see if any information helps prove the Thomas's listed are indeed the same.
